Granary Burying Ground

Final resting place of Revolutionary heroes.

Colonial slate headstones under tall trees in a historic Boston burying ground

Why it matters

Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, John Hancock and the Boston Massacre victims are buried here.

Visiting Granary Burying Ground

Founded in 1660, the Granary takes its name from a grain storehouse that once stood nearby.

Look for the slate headstones carved with winged skulls — and remember that many markers no longer sit above the graves they name.
